This is very similar to the parts and FPE situation in GRB. This is easily the most obvious case of Gaijin using player frustration to make profit. The ridiculous RP cost of many top tier vessels (both bluewater and coastal) make this issue even worse. You can play a 10-kill game at top tier with a premium account and a 10% RP booster and still only end up with 7-8k RP even after a victory. But neither of these really make the grind all that easy as the most crucial thing for researching which is the RP gain is extremely low in naval. The recent increasing of the SL modifiers for bluewater ships was also positive change. They definitely took a step in the right direction by dividing the trees to coastal and bluewater. And RP gain itself is very low to begin with. You can't even farm anything profitable in naval within such a short time. 25 minutes is simply non-acceptable for naval RB. There are some encounter maps (Destroy enemy convoy/players to gain the ticket advantage) in rotation that literally takes 20 minutes even in the fastest cruiser just to get within the firing range of the enemy convoy. But for air RB and naval RB 25/30min is way too low. Now I can understand a 25-minute match time for ground battles. Keep in mind that domination matches (capture and hold a single large point) have a 60min timer but they usually end within about 20 minutes anyway. Which can be frustrating as most of the vessels of that class are not designed for long range engagements and there’s also no cover to be utilized for lightly armored vessels. The maps themselves are alright imo with a few exceptions but the rotation can tend to be really bad most of the time.įor example, large open ocean maps designed for big cruiser and battleship fights can sometimes be matched for small destroyer and coastal vessel fights. Because battleship maps get rotated in to cruiser/destroyer matches and vice versa. The bluewater (Maps designed for bluewater vessels) maps can be a mess most of the time. Things like this doesn't help the situation. I also saw in a reddit post recently showing the WT social media guy forgetting naval in a post comment. The best naval video we currently have is the IJN introductory trailer a couple of years back and that's about it. As for WT naval the need for a cinematic is long overdue. They had absolutely no need to make something like this as that game is already doing pretty well but yet they did. It's basically a USS Baltimore and an IJN Mogami having an epic face off to some cool music in the background. WoWs (World of Warships, the direct competitor for War Thunder Naval) recently released a really well put together CG trailer called "The Duel". The marketing for naval is almost non-existent. I'll start off with one of the less talked about but also imo the main reason naval is dying. Your experience might differ but I'm confident it will not be far off. Also, during the last couple of months I've been exclusively playing only this mode so all this is based on my personal experience in naval RB. Since then, I've clocked about 500 hours in total to naval RB and managed to grind and finish 1 coastal tree, 1 bluewater tree and unlock the top ranks of 2 more. This will be a long post.įor a bit of background, I'm mainly an air RB player with about 4900 hours of play time and I decided to start playing naval back when the "New Power" patch came out. So, I thought of writing this covering the reasons why naval is a joke among the community right now and why new players don't like to stick around the game mode all that long. I see a lot of people in this sub straight up making fun of naval without even actually trying it or knowing why it's bad in the first place.
